The Giver

With Every Drop Of Blood

I wonder why at the beginning of this story a boy named Johnny makes a

promise to his Dad. Johnny is a fourteen years old boy from Harrisburg Virginia. He

lives in a farm with his family, near a mountain by the Shenandoah Valley in the state

of Virginia. This makes Johnny a Southerner and also part of the confederacy.

His father was part of the Confederate army and had been wounded on the

battle field. Because he lived in the South and was told by others and his Dad, Johnny

always thought of African American as being inferior to him. I want to know why a runaway slave named Cush was able to capture Johnny,

a white Southerner. Cush is a Black union soldier. He is fourteen years old boy and

was also called Private Turner.

Johnny had entered enemy territory because he was taking mules and wagons

full of supplies to rebel troops in the North. He was captured by Cush and held in a

prison camp. He had to take orders from Cush but did not do it because he believed

that he did not have to follow or obey what an African American demanded.

By now we know what Johnny’s promise to his Dad was. It was to help his

mother and family in case if his Dad passed away. He wonders what would happen to

his family and himself, also confused on how he would keep his promise to his Dad. I want to know why a runaway slave named Cush was able to capture Johnny,

his family and himself, also confused on how he would keep his promise to his Dad. I can’t believe that both Cush and Johnny joined with others to attack the

Southerners. Johnny and Cush became good friends but Johnny is now seen as a

traitor to the South and his family. It was a strange situation for Johnny because he

was helping out Cush an African American, and this was against his old belief that

African Americans were to be pitied.

Towards the end of the story, Johnny and Cush thought of a plan to enter

Confederate army base. The plan was to use Cush as a dead Union soldier to get

through the enemy base. The Confederate who trusted Johnny, took the dead bodies

including Cush, and brought them to Appomattox.

Eventually the war ended and Cush and Johnny would sit together at the table

of brotherhood. As far as Johnny’s promise to his father, it was fulfilled. Johnny a young boy who's father went to war
Was taking care of his family
When he heard a knock on his front door
It was his father who had come from the war

He was injured, he was hurt
All the doctors did not know which part of his body did not work
He slept, he lazed around
As Johnny and his mother went to find food at the closest town.

Johnny felt bad for him
Even though at the end of the war the Union wins
When they came home to the father sleeping it was peaceful
They knew he was dreaming

Johnny made a promise to his father
Because Johnny was the only son
The promise was for Johnny to take care of the family
He did keep his promise, yes indeed he did

Books I want to read during the Summer Break

The books I would like to read are Peace Locomotion which is the sequel of the book Locomotion which I am currently enjoying at the time. I am going to foreshadow what the book is about and say that Lonnie C. Motion is letting go of her memories of his parents who have passed on and his lovable sister Lilly who is now living with another family.

Favorite Books

The type of books I like to read are fiction because it gives you a image of certain stuff that you would not see in real life. They also give your mind the power to imagine and the skill of creativeness. One of the books that I had read was The Graveyard Book I liked this book because there was a lot of different mythological creatures such as Griffins and demons and 3 creatures by the name of jackal's. If you were to read this book, you would also get the feeling that you were in the book experiencing what the character is going through. One of my favorite books is Locomotion by Jacqueline Woodson.

My favorite genre is suspense because you would not know where or what is going to happen next. Suspense is also a cliff hanger in some books. Which means that there is maybe going to be a sequel or they would make it into a short book that would start from where the suspense ended. It is good to read up to about 45 minutes or even more. But the average time I read up to is about an hour. This helps you learn new vocabulary that can help you exceed in life and in your education. Here is a list of books I read in the last year or so...
  • Babe and Me
  • Locomotion
  • Percy Jackson: The lightning Thief
  • After Tupac and D foster
  • The girl who could fly
  • Three skeleton key
  • Prometheus and the Minotar
  • The last Leapord
  • Esperanza Rising
  • With Every Drop Of Blood
  • Across Five Aprils
  • War of the walls
  • Schooled
  • Feathers
  • Witches
  • Flushed
  • Flowers for Algernon
  • Hunger Games
  • Mockingjay
  • Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters
  • 7th Grade
  • N.E.R.D.S
  • iQ: the white house
  • iQ:independence hall
  • The Giver
I would recommend Locomotion and iQ: the White house because they were both some of the top books I read this year. I usually find my books at Barnes and nobles or I find them in my local library. One of the books that I saw at the library and would like to read was Peace Locomotion which is the sequel to Locomotion and both books are fiction. The characters in this book is Lonnie C. Motion, Mrs. Marcus and Mrs. Edna.I was forced to sign up without my consent by my parents, but now it turns out that blogging is social and fun.
